I’m happy to see trend forecast #1 and #2 in the article as they follow my own approach to logo design.
#1 (Flat) is, of course, a very clean solution, but you can achieve a variety of effects (such as 3-D and motion) while keeping it simple. They also display best for web and reproduce well for print.
Forecast #2 (Handmade) is an approach I have used in my design for years, as in the Katiebug Bows logo below. With all the digital technology in today’s world, both personally and professionally, the arts of writing and drawing have greatly diminished. I think my kids will be part of the first generation who can’t write in cursive. My clients have not always been open to implementing “handmade” graphics into projects (especially logos), but I hope the trend will continue in it’s popularity.
